Nothing is Cooler than Running in Rainy July

Running in Rainy July

What’s up, July?? The half of the year is finally over. How time flies so fast!

I woke up in a gloomy Saturday morning.  A breezy wind can be heard from inside my room. It’s been raining for almost a week now.

…Just when I needed to train for my next race

With only 2 weeks left before the much awaited 39th Milo National Marathon, it is still unclear to me whether 21k 0r 42K will be most fit for me.

Yup, as of this writing, I’m still deciding on which course to take.

If God permits, this will be my first time to join a Milo running event. That being said, I want my every first to be something special. Never have I thought though that circumstances will turn out this way.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s learning to dance in the rain.”

Just when negative thoughts started piling in my mind, a tiny hope came shining in the sky. God’s morning star was showing signs of appearing.

The rain suddenly stopped. I would like to think that it was a good sign for me.

You guess it right. As soon as I finished everything I had on my plate that day, I decided not to waste the opportunity.

It was 6pm when I left the house.  I put on my running gear and headed to my training ground( I live near National Center for Mental Health where there is a 850km track and that’s where I do my running…Let me clarify that I don’t live there, it’s just my training ground! LOL! ).

Oh boy, never did it feel  so good to get my feet working again.

I had to put my determination hat on! I set my mind to finish at least 12kms that day. No excuses.

It was kind of windy evening, way cooler than the usual training days that I’m used to having.  I was loving it.

And off I go!

I was getting my pace. I was running like never before. It must be because I got deprived of the needed training because of the bed weather the previous week.

But just when I reached the 10th kilometer mark, something unexpected happened.

The rain began to fall like crazy! Oh well, I had to persist! Not even the rain could stop me.

Instead of being negative about it, I took it as a way to pamper myself while running.

The cool raindrops were so comforting. It felt like a massage to my perspiring body. Just when I was starting to get cold, the pour out ceased.

Wow, it felt like heaven right there. That was my first time being soaked in the rain while running and sweating.

It was like a sweet price and I have to say, I enjoyed it!

I may have been deprived from running because of the continuous rain during the week, but I felt like this was some kind of  a redemption for me.

In the end, I finished 14kms of what I considered as one of the coolest runs ever. I guess I also have to thank MILO R2 A.P.E.X. Running School for the proper training and conditioning they gave us in the last 2 months.

And with regard to whether or not I’ll be going for 42k or not, I guess I already made myself clear, huh?

So shall I see you in the race? I’m sure it will be another awesome marathon to look forward to. I would love to meet you there!

See you at the finish line,
